Mr. Lim Chhay Kim, Hotel owner

Mr. Lim Chay Kim is a Cambodian Chinese. He and his wife Mrs. Lim Kimlourn have three sons and one daughter. He completed his studies at the Ming Se high school and can speak all dialects of Chinese very well. He is the President of the Chinese Hokian Association in Cambodia and the Committee Director of the Chinese Association in Cambodia. It is his mandate to develop the activities for the associations, and as such he has been involved in many activities such as building a new Chinese pagoda and new school buildings with funding from local Chinese and Chinese living abroad in countries like China, Hong Kong, Malaysia and France. With the help of this funding, the Ming Se High School has been able to take in thousands of students and is once again successful. During the Pol Pot regime, Mr Lim worked hard as a farmer in the fields of Battambang Province until he was able to come back to Phnom Penh in 1980. In 1990 he opened the 200-250 seat Penh Chet restaurant which serves Cambodian, Chinese and other Asian foods, but specializes in soups like beef and goat soups. Their specialty is the "Soup Penh Chet". By 1996 he was able to open a 40-room hotel and by 2002, a second, 50-room hotel right behind the first one
