Phnom Penh weather forecast

Cambodia has a tropical climate with two distinct seasons - the rainy season (May - October) and the dry season (November - April). The hottest month is April where temperatures often reach high 30s. As with all destinations with seasonal varieties, the different seasons have their advantages and disadvantages, but it is possible to visit Phnom Penh year round.

Temperatures in Phnom Penh range from 18 °C to 38 °C (64 °F to 100 °F). If you want to visit when the weather in Phnom Penh is at its best, plan to arrive in November, December or January when maximum temperatures seldom cross 30 °C and minimums go down to an average of 22 °C, sometimes lower. There is also almost no rainfall at this time of year which makes it ideal for travel.

April is extremely hot with temperatures shooting up to as high as 40°C or 104°F. Rains arrive here around June and the wet season lasts until October. September and October are the wettest months. During this time expect gusty winds and extremely heavy rainfall.

Besides the temperatures, the other thing to remember is Phnom Penh is almost always dusty - except when the monsoon showers wet the roads and settle the dust for a while. Cover up with a scarf and protect your eyes with spectacles all other times of year.

Tropical Phnom Penh is, as you would expect, hot and humid most of the year - so come armed with lots of sun block, good sunglasses and an umbrella for those unexpected rain showers.
